I remember this from my mother making it. We use i can of mushroom soup and 1 can of tomato soup mixed together. The mushroom soup actually adds flavor. I couldn't remember how to make it until I establish this recipe and information technology came dorsum to me. Thank you!!
03/09/2008
My mom used to make this the but deviation was that she always layered it. The hamburger/lycopersicon esculentum mixture went at the bottom of a large bowl, next layer was dark-green beans, so mashed potatoes, topped with lots of cheese! Very skilful
03/twenty/2004
Very good. I did accept to substitute tomatoe sauce for the tomatoe soup, and I only used i can of sauce. I besides used french style green beans, and added more seasoning- garlic and pepper.Using instant potatoes as well made it a lot quicker. I volition put mushrooms in it next fourth dimension. Overall, a very like shooting fish in a barrel to brand meal. I'll probally play around with this recipe and see what else I can come up with. Again, VERY Skilful !!!!

My mom used to make this dish, years ago; it was from the old red&white checkered BH&G cookbook. I used the 1lb ground beefiness, ane/ii an onion, 1 can low-sodium tomato soup, & subbed the light-green beans with corn. I added 1/2c milk and 1 egg to the mashed potatoes, covered the meat with them, & used 1/2c cheddar cheese to tiptop. Cheers for reminding me of this good old condolement food recipe, Corrie!

Actually good bones meal. Super easy to put together. I apply instant potatoes (4-6 serving size) and add 2 tsp (or more) of basil and some minced onion & garlic. I but cook it until the cheese melts.
02/17/2002
VERY Skilful! I ADDED 2 CLOVES OF GARLIC, 2 TSP BASIL+one Can MUSHROOMS TO Lycopersicon esculentum MIXTURE. IT TIES ALL THE FLAVOURS TOGETHER PERFECTLY. Will DEFINITELY Exist MAKING THIS Again. Thanks!
01/24/2002
Very, very proficient! The whole family loved information technology. I added a 4 oz. tin of sliced mushrooms and cut the onion down past half. I also added garlic. I took another reviewer's proposition and used instant mashed potatoes to reduce the prep fourth dimension. As always, I used chicken broth instead of water when making the instant taters. We'll be having this again existent shortly!
08/09/2002
I used to make this dish many years ago, but had lost the recipe. It'due south slap-up to take institute information technology again. The i difference I recall is that my one-time recipe used instant mashed potato flakes with an egg browbeaten in. It was very good that way, and faster to brand.
08/04/2003
This is the kind of recipe I look for! Excellent i Corrie! I used 1/2 handbag of frozen broccoli for veggie instead (could probably utilize anything) and added some onion and garlic like I like to. Too to make it faster I added instant potatoes on the pinnacle and those were good.
02/02/2008
I have made this recipe for over xxx years. It is really wonderful. The only thing I do different is I omit the tomato soup (besides banal) and just utilise ketchup in the ground beef. Makes it more than tangy. I don't measure merely eyeball information technology. Gives the green beans a improve flavor. I let the beef, ketchup, onion and beans simmer all together for awhile... also I utilise the Shellie light-green beans. Yum...I'm getting hungry.
05/03/2012
I'm a vegetarian so I subbed meatless crumbles for the ground cow. I also used instant mashed potatoes because I had some in the pantry that I've been meaning to use up. I added light-green peas, as well. This dish was delicious and seems super kid friendly. There were 3 of united states of america and we ate the whole thing. My hamless pie was a huge success.
08/08/2011
My substitutions probably caused the lower rating. I used Healthy Selection tomato soup, corn instead of green beans, and mashed redskins with sour cream due to availability in my pantry.
03/05/2007
A good quick simple recipe. I couldnt of asked for more. I did add some spices to go far a picayune more flavorful or else information technology would of been also bland.
09/12/2010
Added sauteed mushrooms, Worcestersire sauce, garlic, 1 tin can foam of mushroom and one can tomatoe sauce instead of tomatoe soup, steamed frozen dark-green beans before adding instead of canned green beans, and added frozen corn, added salt, red pepper, black pepper.
03/23/2011
As written this would exist very bland. Where are the seasonings? I took the suggestions of others and used one can of love apple and i tin of foam of mushroom soup. I seasoned the meat/soup mixture to my taste, and fabricated the mashed potatoes with a picayune butter and salt every bit I unremarkably would. Also, I did not mix in the greenish beans -- I just cooked them equally a side dish. Edit: I idea this dish was great with the modifications I made. As well, I wanted to note that I used footing turkey instead of basis beefiness.
07/12/2009
I would requite this a 3.five. It's quick, like shooting fish in a barrel, and doesn't taste bad, but no recipe that uses condensed soups deserves a 5 in my opinion. Like another reviewer suggested, I used tomato sauce mixed with foam of mushroom soup. This was exactly the recipe I was looking for because we were hungry and I didn't want to cook long.
01/17/2011
I made this give-and-take for give-and-take what the recipe chosen for - and nosotros decided it was a piffling bland. I'll endeavor adding the tin of mushroom soup next time, and maybe some garlic when sauteeing the meat/onions. Just didn't see my expectations based on the version I ate coming upwards. Will endeavour once again and come across how information technology goes.
04/07/2009
This recipe is a slap-up base, and it really is i of those staples that just about all of our mothers probably made at some point. It's too, manifestly, a variation of Shepard's pie. I've tried the recipe equally-is and while good...I just felt like it needed some help. I utilize a tin can of tomato plant sauce instead of the soup and I toss in some sliced fresh mushrooms. The real change is in the potatoes. I roast 2 heads of garlic with olive oil and rosemary. While that's roasting I cook the potatoes, unpeeled, in craven stock, then bleed... and reserve some of the cooking liquid. I add the garlic to the potatoes, then brew that up with some Kosher salt and cracked peppercorns. Then I heat the butter, some sour cream, heavy cream (or crème fraîche if I have it...whole milk if I have neither) and the reserved stock from the potatoes until information technology forms a dainty, warm sauce (don't boil it!). The warm sauce is then mashed in with the white potato and garlic mixture. Once that is washed, I mix in some chopped dark-green onions and cubed cheddar cheese. It's a lumpy, gooey mess of mashed potatoes, but it is amazingly skilful and helps add a footling something to the dish that everyone seems to really like. So, really... it's essentially the aforementioned dish but I simply do a much fancier mashed spud dish on top.
01/21/2011
I am giving this recipe 4 stars because despite it's advent, my entire family unit gobbled information technology upwards. I followed the recipe to a 't' and although it was good, I will probably make a couple of changes next time. I am going to sub out i can of tomato soup for a can of foam of mushroom as other posters have suggested. I volition probably add a can of tuckered niblet corn as well. Similar I mentioned before, it was very tasty just when you scoop a portion onto your plate, it looks like gloppy mush. The soup/beef/dark-green mixture was very thin. I will definitely brand this again with only a couple of modifications.
01/11/2009
i make this verbal recipie, but you need to line the lesser of a pan offset with cresent rolls.earlier you add your hamburger mixtue sprinkle cheese on top of the cresent rolls.bake until the cresent rolls are browned, about 30to40 minutes at 350.
11/08/2012
This is a comfort food recipe from manner dorsum in my family. Easy to put together and satisfying likewise. My mother ever added a bit of chili powder and that's how I like it. She likewise used a can of diced tomatoes with juice, likewise.
05/21/2008
Probably 3 and a half. I made this tonight and it was quite good with some of the changes I made. I followed the advice of some here and did one can of love apple and one of mushroom. I added more veggies as well. I used the onion, half a ruby pepper, I had a small zucchini that needed to exist used, so I threw that in, about one-half a bag of frozen corn and the beans. I as well added a few proficient splashes of Franks. All in all a skilful quick dinner. Thank you Corrie!
04/eighteen/2009
This is definately a variation of shepherd's pie but a tasty one at that. A friend of mine used to make this simply I never got the recipe from her. Simply thing I think that was unlike was that she used white cheese - mozzarella I believe and she put the potatoes in the middle leaving an edge open so that the soup mixture would bubble upwardly over the potatoes as information technology cooked. And then...hither is what I did. I used ground turkey and seasoned it with garlic pepper and kosher table salt and added 2 chopped garlic cloves, used depression sodium lycopersicon esculentum soups, and added some mozzarella cheese correct in with the mashed potatoes. I then made a band with the potatoes every bit directed and sprinkled with monterey jack cheese and a colby/jack mix ( I had some bags of shredded cheese I needed to use up ). I did melt mine for most fifteen min. longer than the time chosen for. This turned out cracking and the cheese in the mashed potatoes was awesome and I practice call back the mozzarella and monterey jack cheeses go better with the tomato sauce. Nice comfort style dinner with a tossed salad and some bread - yum!!! I'm glad to have establish this recipe.
07/28/2011
Good for when you only take a few ingredients, but not full of flavor.
07/twenty/2011
My family loves this casserole and and so exercise I because when all else fails these ingredients I always have on hand. I pretty much follow the recipe except I brand a few more potatoes bc my family likes them. Great leftover to take to piece of work.
04/22/2011
I've been making this since I was 12 yrs old. We found this recipe on a pamphlet that came with a tube of Prell shampoo. Anyone remember Prell!! It had another very simple receipes a young girl could brand. I guess you could phone call this my showtime cookbook. Why Prell was premoting it I could non tell you Information technology chosen for a beaten egg in the potatos
06/09/2009
This was very quick to make and the husband and kids liked information technology.
11/twenty/2011
I remembered something similar as a family favorite growing up, merely have to say I am really disappointed. This dish REALLY lacks flavor. I'd recommend adding worchestire sauce, or other herbs/spices to jazz information technology up before putting it in the casserole. Big time bummer.
05/13/2009
Very good recipe.
06/11/2009
very good my whole family loved it , i used potatoe flakes & added a splash of worchestershire sauce
09/05/2010
VERY practiced!! Added a bit more than salt, sauteed onion and garlic with the meat, and made the potatoes from scratch with greenish onion and cream cheese. Kids LOVED information technology!! Nosotros loved information technology, as well!! Sent the recipe on to my parents, and THEY loved it also. Easy!!
11/07/2009
My hubby and I whipped this recipe up final night and information technology was SCRUMPTIOUS!! We substituted frozen peas for dark-green be. We ever use ground turkey when a recipe calls for footing beef. Adjacent go round, nosotros're going to use mushrooms and fresh, organic green beans for this recipe. A mighty thanks to the author of this recipe and besides the folks who reviewed information technology and fabricated suggestions!
05/06/2011
I fabricated this recipe tonight. My husband and I prefer spicy food, so I diced viii already sliced jalapeños. I and so added instead of JUST green beans, a mixture of frozen peas, carrots and light-green beans. As well, like other users have suggested, I used mushroom soup instead of tomato. Beautiful. :]
04/29/2009
This meal was a hit with my family. I made the recipe "every bit is" with a couple simple modifications. I took other suggestions and used one tin can tomato soup and the other tomato sauce. Also added a squirt of worchester and ketchup to boot it up a scrap. My daughter suggested adding corn to it, and so I did and information technology was great. The only change I would make is using MORE potatos. I knew four potatoes were not enough, and then I boiled 7 modest ones and it still was non every bit much tater as I would have wanted. I covered the unabridged casserole with potatoes and not just the edges. Thanks for the recipe...this was great as lunch leftovers and I volition make information technology once again for sure!
07/02/2009
My husband and I loved this! Information technology's a great weeknight dinner! I only had one tin can of tomato soup so I used it along with a can of diced tomatos. It made it a little chunkier! I'thou making it again this night!
04/13/2012
I didnt utilize tomato soup, i used cream of mushroom instead and added a squeeze of ketchup and a dash of worsteshire, and saute onion, garlic with the beef. Sometimes i add a small tin of corn to the mix just depending on what i have on hand. And so i altered information technology quite a bit to adapt my families tastes but the base recipe was bully inspiration. Its a great cheap filling meal that anybody in my family unit has seconds of.
08/11/2011
You just saved my backside! I didn't feel like cooking, which disappointed the married man of course; however, I hopped to it with merely a few ingredients on hand. I came across your recipe and gave it a whirl. Married man entered the kitchen and immediately said, "Mmm"! He's very hard to please when it comes to something new so this gave me a huge smiling & sigh of relief. Adjacent came the taste test which is where he exclaimed, "This is skilful"! My opioion - fast, easy, comforting, cheap, and MUCH BETTER than sheppard'south pie!!! This goes n2 the family favs. Thank you!
07/29/2008
well i made this today , and it was good , but thay sied information technology tasted like spagitti sauce im not certain what i did that was rong
04/03/2009
I idea this was a pretty good recipe. Zippo special, but pretty tasty if you lot add together some extra spices. I added garlic salt and pepper to my meat mixture. Just used three potatoes, then mashed them with some butter, salt and pepper. I put the potatoes on top of the meat mixture and covered the superlative with well-nigh twice the amount of cheese called for. I wish I would have put some cheese between the meat and potato mixture every bit well. In the end, this recipe just seemed to me and my married man to be some other version of Sheperd'due south Pie. Not bad though.
04/sixteen/2001
I don't know where y'all got this recipe either, but I made this recipe up aprox. xxx years agone when my hubby was in the service. Sue dillon
09/08/2008
I made a few changes to this...and it was WONDERFUL! It was really good as written, but a little bland - only would exist expert for immature children. I used i can tomato plant and ane can foam of mushroom every bit others accept washed. I also added nigh a half cup ruby-red wine, a little worcestershire, I used three/4ths of a thawed bag of frozen corn/green beans/carrots, added a fleck of garlic also. This really is shephard'due south pie and should go nether that heading....I cooked upwardly about five lbs of potatoes as well so in that location would be plenty! this is i I'll brand over and over again! =)
08/23/2009
This is an one-time BH & M recipe. I browned the meat in an iron skillet and used Bob Evans southwestern fashion potatoes (the kind in the refrigerated department of the market). I and so stuck the whole skillet in the oven so I only have one pan to clean. Quick, easy and delicious. I have used mushroom soup with this every bit well. Corn is a nice addition.
xi/29/2009
This is a very quick and easy recipe. I used 1/2 pound of lean hamburger and 1/2 pound of lean sausage. I added garlic, diced up a tomato and actually used ketchup instead of tomato soup. (The vinegar in ketchup adds a dainty season to the dish.)
02/17/2003
This is the shepard'due south pie I recall of yesteryear. This is Corking!! I had to double the recipe though to make plenty to feed my family unit of five (although two are teens). Cheers Corrie.
05/17/2002
Great recipe! Didn't have any lycopersicon esculentum soup so used lycopersicon esculentum sauce. Also added some carrots. Loved it!!
01/14/2012
everyone liked it.
01/06/2010
Mom made this all the time when I was growing up. It is like shooting fish in a barrel to make in a foil container and give away. I have ofttimes washed this for friends who have merely moved or brought home a new infant. It freezes well if need be, or tin be reheated in the micro serving by serving as people are hungry.
02/09/2010
Neat casserole. I have been using the base of this recipe for years. I add together some frozen mixed veggies (defrosted in the microwave) & seasoned diced tomatoes. Instant (prepared) mashed potatoes mixed with an egg, garlic and seasoned table salt is a quick topping. I commonly use parmesan for the cheese. This is a very forgiving recipe in that y'all can utilise whatsoever veggies and cheeses that you like. This is total comfort food!
11/twenty/2005
Good, fast, and easy. I likewise added 2 cloves of garlic, common salt and pepper, and would probably employ 1/2 the onion. I used instant mashed potatoes and it was still good, however if I had more time I'd brand real mashed. The cheese is a skilful add-on so add enough. I only baked information technology until the cheese was melted. Good.
06/04/2009
Neat recipe! My family loved & it was And then easy to brand, very yummy!
eleven/11/2006
I take been making this dish for years!, but I do find that 1 tin cream of mushroom and i tin love apple soup has better flavor and also I spread the meat mixture out to comprehend the whole pan and brand plenty irish potato's to cover all the meat mixture, This really is comfort food!!
12/04/2010
I used a few other reviews and contradistinct this a bit. I used 2 cans of mushroom soup, 1 can of diced tomatoes, corn and leftover dark-green bean casserole and mashed potatoes from Thanksgiving..My family unit LOVED it. Thank you for this posting :)
02/07/2009
Terrific starter recipe. Another reviewer said information technology right: y'all probably can use only nearly any kind of veggie. And creamy soup. We used Condensed cheddar cheese soup, added a little milk, mixed it with browned footing turkey that was cooked with the onions and garlic, with some basil and pepper. Topped with french cut green beans and bootleg mashies with a colby/jack shredded cheese mix on top. Baked until cheese good and melty. Fiance said a definite 'make-over again' !!! Give thanks you!!
07/eleven/2008
My mom used to make this recipe all the fourth dimension when I was growing upwardly. Except we just combined the soup, beef & green beans together and spread the mixture over a broiled potato or over a biscuit. So very good!!!
02/01/2007
Great recipe with a few alterations: I added four cloves of garlic, some basil, and some frozen corn. Used one can tomato plant soup, one can cream of mushroom. I greased the bottom of blistering dish and put frozen crispy crowns (tator tots) on the bottom of the dish. Used instant mashed potatoes for the top. Brother liked it. Thanks for the recipe!
07/01/2011
I didn't modify a affair, my family ate it up! Piece of cake and delicious!
07/24/2007
Probably closer to a 3.5 for me....but ok. Pretty banal and I even kicked upwardly the spices.
02/sixteen/2013
A classic recipe that my female parent raised me on. It was one of my favorites growing upwardly and one of my children's favorites and at present they're grown. The only thing to do differently is that there is NO reason - whatever - to Not cover the meat with mashed potatoes. We always accept and it'south divine. Information technology does bubble up through potatoes sometimes, and perchance that's why this person said not to, but who cares? It's about yummy goodness and the potatoes on pinnacle expect cute. I'd recommend putting your baking dish on a lined baking sail, just in case it does chimera upwardly. Don't forget to add pepper either!
07/25/2009
I thought this was fabulous, even with using condensed soup. It has a surprisingly great gustatory modality, is simple, inexpensive and quick to make. And in my opinion, this deserves v stars, BECAUSE information technology achieves everything a mom wants for a repast, without the slaving time and attempt. Definite keeper!!
04/eleven/2006
This was good. My 2 year old ate 2 plates full. I did not have 2 cans of tomato soup so I used ane can tomato soup and 1 can reduced sodium cream of mushroom. I also used french cut green beans instead of canned and chicken goop to make the mashed potatoes (boxed of form!). I added fresh garlic to the hamburger meat forth with basil and a nuance of oregano. Yummy!
01/21/2007
Hamburger pie is succulent. I like to add a 15 oz can of drained sweet corn with the ground beefiness and green beans. Another shortcut I accept is using stale minced onion, which y'all tin add to the basis beef when browning. This casserole freezes well, and so you lot can make a double batch and freeze i for after.
xi/06/2008
This meal was awesome I had my sister and brother-in-law and their kids over for dinner and they all loved it my husband couldn't get enough of it. Way practiced and piece of cake.
04/01/2004
My family loved this recipe. It's quick and like shooting fish in a barrel.
02/05/2003
I was looking for something to brand that did crave a trip to the store. This was dandy! I did non have 2 cans of tomato soup, so I used one tin can of soup and a can of condensed veg. soup. It added some colour and the tasts blend very well. I as well used instant butter potatoes and abrupt chedder cheese. This was so quick and it made tons! I would probably utilize more instant potatoes if I was feeding a family unit larger than two. Thank you for this recipe; it will be a keeper! :)
09/30/2001
Delicious! An all-time favorite! Our sons took this recipe forth when they went abroad to college.
03/28/2011
Honestly, wasn't my favorite main dish. But, it was a nice side dish!
08/05/2008
my family really enjoys this!
12/02/2008
I found this recipe while trying to find a way to use my leftover mashed potatoes. My whole family unit loved this recipe-the kids asked for 3rd's. We used spaghetti sauce instead of lycopersicon esculentum soup and sauteed fresh mushrooms with the hamburger and onion. I layered the green beans on top of the meat mixture and so our leftover mashed potatoes and cheese. Delicious!
04/02/2002
YUMMY!! This recipe is a keeper!
07/28/2009
Meh...not that amazing. A great base though. I used one can tomato and one can mushrrom soup as suggested. It would have been quite bland if I only had used tomato soup. I also layered information technology. The potatoes definately need some butter/milk/egg. I am determined to brand it improve side by side time and plan on calculation a bunch more than spices, using more pepper jack cheese and mixing in more veggies.
06/26/2009
I had to make a few changes equally I only had instant potatoes on hand and I had to use (1 can) tomato sauce instead of love apple soup. I spiced it upwards a little with some garlic powder and italian seasoning just for flavour. I too used two cans of dark-green beans. It was very tasty and then easy that I idea I was missing a step. My toddlers love this so information technology's a keeper.
08/03/2006
I made it with green beans once and 3 out of five family members really liked it. And then next fourth dimension I made information technology I used corn instead of green beans. Much improve. I recommened corn!
08/12/2005
The receipe was a little bland but I spiced information technology up with garlic and a picayune bit of Tabasco sauce. It is a proficient receipe for a quick and piece of cake meal during the calendar week.
08/23/2008
Cut this recipe in half. Used leftovers for the potatoes and mashed potatoes. Used canned tomatoes instead of the tomato soup and added chili sauce to add together spice. Information technology was a hit. It is a simple recipe that can be altered to use up you leftovers.
xi/04/2009
I made mashed potatoes with scarlet potatoes, salt, butter and milk. My ground beef was cooked with a cup and a half of small diced onions and a tablespoon of minced garlic. I added a can of condensed lycopersicon esculentum soup and 1 can of diced Italian tomatoes. I put it in a 9"x13" drinking glass dish. I then put a layer of steamed corn (i had no french cutting greenish beans like I usually use). I topped information technology all with the potatoes. And so I added a generous layer of cheddar/Monterey mix. Finally I added French's Onions to the acme and baked in the 350 oven for well-nigh 25 minutes. ** Event** YUM-O! Kids liked it, married man liked it and I liked information technology.
09/13/2001
I made this recipe for my "finicky" hubby concluding night and was then pleased to get a thumbs up. He said " beloved, this is i of the all-time meals I take ever had. So I will indeed make information technology once more. I used very lean hanburger and it came out perfect. A definite Go on.
09/xi/2008
I gave this recipe a four considering of all the things I added. The consequence was great! I call back my 4 yr old & ii year old ate more than than I did! I added carrots, celery, corn and shredded cabbage. As well I used 1/2 a can of tomato plant and 1/ii a tin can of cream of mushroom soups. This was a great fashion to go my kids to eat a ton of veggies and love it!! Thanks for the great idea!!
07/22/2010
This was SOOO Good! I used ii cans of foam of mushroom soup per someone's suggestion; I likewise seasoned the meat mixture with common salt and pepper and used frozen mixed vegetables instead of the green beans.
01/11/2011
nosotros all decided that we did in fact LIKE the dish, just none of us touched the leftovers. It was very different, resulting in defoliation but in a skilful manner. Don't call up I'll make information technology once again though, if I do I volition cut back on the soup, I call back that it was a bit overwhelming.
09/25/2008
My family LOVED this repast! I tweaked information technology a little for my own tastes. I didn't have an onion handy, so I added onion powder and garlic pulverisation to the hamburger as information technology was cooking. I used boxed mashed potatoes (cheddar flavored). I likewise used 1 tin can of tomato soup, and 1 can of cream of mushroom soup. The cream of mushroom soup really fabricated it creamy and yummy! The cheddar flavored potatoes really added a lot of flavor too. I volition definately make this again!
05/26/2010
This was a tasty comfort food recipe ~ took the recommendation on using one can of mushroom soup instead of 2 tomato soup and information technology turned out smashing, y'all merely can't go enough! I also decided to use one of the recipes for garlic mashed potatoes for the topping and felt that information technology really added some flavor to this dish
12/22/2009
Delicious! I used the modifications that many reviewers have suggested. I added one can of tomato soup and 1 can cream of mushroom. I also used minced onion (I was out of fresh), garlic powder and lots of Worcestershire sauce in the meat, probably a good 3 T. This turned out very flavorful and my entire family ate information technology correct up...especially my 1 yr quondam and picky eleven year former! I volition definitely be making this again and over again.
11/05/2007
WOW...my kids gobbled this upward. I don't use tomato soup so I pureed some canned stewed tomatoes instean and since they don't similar green beans I used canned corn. It was slap-up and I'll be making this again!
eleven/25/2007
I thought this recipe was pretty good..my married man and 1 yr erstwhile son absolutely loved information technology though. I finally have a way for my son to swallow green beans! Like some of the other reviewers I used instant potatoes and added mushrooms to the meat mix--although I call up I'll leave the mushrooms out next time since what I didn't like about this was the flavour of the mushrooms.
04/xiii/2008
I accept e'er loved this recipe, merely lost the recipe a little while back. I am glad to take found it again! The merely thing I did different was to add together iv cloves of fresh garlic, chopped upward, to the browning meat. I also used instant mashed potatoes and I used ii cups of cheese instead of the 1. Yum!!
06/17/2009
It's a keeper! I added 1 can of corn and an additional can of green beans. I also cooked the meat and onions with garlic. I would advise making your mashed potatoes how yous like to eat them, merely mashing cooked potatoes is so evidently. I put the potatoes on top since I had no room in my dish for them to go around. Volition make a lot. Besides you can cook everything up and throw it on a plate. I really don't see the indicate in baking it for 30 mins!!!!
08/14/2006
It was ok, but kinda bland. Don't know if I would cook over again existent soon. Only thanks for the idea. Maybe if I tinker with it....
10/22/2009
This is one of our go-to favorites. I similar to apply basis turkey instead of beefiness and I spice it upwards with a bit of garlic table salt, pepper, and sometimes brownish information technology with onions.
06/30/2009
I added 4 cloves of garlic. Information technology was a quick bones recipe that my kids ate without complaint. I establish it bland tasting but then I like things spicy. Would make again but might physician it a bit
04/eleven/2006
My husband absolutely loved this dish! Like shooting fish in a barrel to set up and has a squeamish presentation.
11/14/2008
I made it with the recommendations...used instant potatoes (made half-dozen servings) added 1 can foam of mushroom and i tsp basil and one tsp garlic pulverization to ground beef and used french cut green beans. This one is a keeper!
02/nineteen/2010

Thank you for posting this! My mom used to make this exact recipe w/ i can of tomato soup and I've been peckish it lately, it wasn't easy to find online! The only thing I change is adding a can of corn to the ground beef mixture (like mom did) and putting the potatoes over the unabridged top instead of simply the outside ring. Makes swell economic lunches since it'due south fifty-fifty tastier once it sits in the fridge =)

This is a staple in my house. My only variations are cooking a chopped onion with the meat and using only 1 can of soup. I too spread the potatoes evenly over the top and omit the cheese. LOVE!

This was a tasty recipe using things anybody has around their kitchen. However, it was a little likewise time-consuming to prepare for my tastes. Adjacent time I will substitute instant mashed potatoes to save time.
